Senior Citizen Fitness & Activities

Grain Valley residents 65 years of age and older receive a free lifetime membership to the community center fitness facility.  Non-residents can receive a discount for a lifetime membership or it is free to SilverSneakers, Silver&Fit, and Renew Active members!  The fitness center offers treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, weight machines, and televisions.

Fitness Center Hours

• Monday – Thursday  |  8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
• Friday  |  8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday  |  8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Sunday  |  9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Time to visit with neighbors and make new friends while enjoying a cup of complentary coffee and treats!

When

• Weekly: Mondays

A class designed for improving flexibility, balance, coordination and strength building.  Classes are free to seniors that have insurance health plans that cover SilverSneakers, Silver&Fit, and Renew Active fitness activities.

• Weekly: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays
• 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

This new class offers upbeat choreography mixed with strength training. Featuring standing upper-body strength work alternated with low impact cardio to maximise fitness benefits (using a chair for standing support). Great for an exerciser looking for a moderateintensity workout.

A fun way to exercise and learn something you’ve always wanted to do!

When

• Weekly: Tuesdays & Thursdays
• Beginners: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
• Advanced: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Bring a friend or make new ones at BINGO! No registration required. Doors open at noon for games and coffee. Bingo starts at 1pm.

Try out the fastest-growing sport around. Similar to ping pong, badminton, and tennis, Pickleball is a fun, active game that can be mastered by anyone from youth to senior citizens. It is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches, and uses a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. We have paddles and balls to use and players do not need to have their own partner.
