The Central Jackson County Fire Protection District serves the City of Grain Valley and surrounding areas. Their team consists of 36 firefighters who are EMT or paramedic trained and certified in responding to basic hazardous materials. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department serves as dispatch for Grain Valley residents for non-emergency police matters that do not occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

OATS Transit is available for senior citizens, age 65+ and individuals age 18-64, who have a disability. Riders must be Grain Valley residents. Fees are only $1 per trip. Rides can be scheduled for Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 816-380-7433.
