GRAIN VALLEY, MO– The Grain Valley Police station study group is convening for their fourth meeting on December 7th at the Grain Valley Community Center to review architectural design concepts and to make preparations to host an open house public meeting on December 14th. Tonight’s meeting will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM and is open to the public.
The open house public meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley, 207 Walnut Street, Grain Valley from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in the church’s community room on December 14th. The public is encouraged to spend as much, or as little time as they would like at the open house meeting. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the Grain Valley police station, learn more about the project from study group members, and discuss project needs and design specifics with police officers, city staff and officials and representatives of the architectural design firm, Hoefer Welker, based in Leawood, KS. The study group will encourage residents to provide written comments at the meeting.
The study group consists of seven residents, two each from the city’s three wards, and one at large member. These volunteers represent the diverse composition of Grain Valley’s citizens.
Additional meetings will be held by the study group on December 21st with their final meeting slated for January 4th. The group will review public comments from the open house meeting and start to create a set of recommendations that will be forwarded to City of Grain Valley officials for hopeful adoption to inform a final design approach.
The study group toured the Grain Valley police station and police facilities in the communities of Kansas City, KS, Lawrence, KS, and Merriam, KS to see what current design features and construction material options are available.
