Summary
Supervisory position over seasonal concession employees as well as the complete operation of the department’s concession stands. Assists in the overall operations of the department including the planning and coordination of sports and recreational programs. Assists in the development of special events and new program offerings.Essential Functions
CONCESSIONS- Oversees concessions operations at athletic venues and aquatic center
- Recruits, selects, supervises, trains and appraises seasonal concession personnel
- Develops proper cash handling and record keeping policies and procedures
- Tracks food and beverage inventory and coordinates deliveries
- Ensures compliance of local and state employee and facility health codes
- Regularly inspects the concession stands in order to evaluate operations and work performance of personnel and equipment
- Oversees the administration of the background screening process for coaches and volunteers
- Maintains the Asset Management Database and inventories supplies
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the Department
- Assists in the development of, and revisions to, the Department’s Master Plan, Strategic Plan and Capital Improvements Program annually
- Helps coordinate preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Routinely codes, analyzes and files expenditures
- Oversees and evaluates contractual services, and recommends a wide variety of contract needs and/or changes
- Maintains seasonal personnel, payroll, and records
- Responds to and resolves patron complaints in a timely manner
- Performs those activities necessary to ensure the safety of co-workers and patrons
- Conducts oral presentations as needed
- Serves on intra-department committees as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Plans, coordinates and oversees the Spring and Fall youth sports seasons
- Schedules, plans and conducts coaches/parent meetings and provides continuous direction to volunteers
- Schedules and oversees staff for sports-related offerings
- Work with and schedules contracted employees (sports officials) for sports leagues and tournaments
- Works closely with local athletic associations for the successful delivery of youth sports inter-league play
- Coordinates field usage schedules
- Markets facilities to outside sports entities for tournaments
- Other duties as assigned
- Plans, implements and evaluates classes, programs and special events at Community Center, Aquatics Center and within the park system
- Analyzes revenues/expenses to determine program viability
- Secures alternative sources of funding for programs through donations, sponsorships & grants
- Schedules and oversees staff for programs
- Oversees contracts for officials, instructors, etc
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Knowledge of:
- Recreational programming, activities, and special events to include promotion, sponsorship acquisition, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Microsoft Office Suite

Supervision Received
- The work is performed under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director
- Supervision is performed over the Seasonal Concessions and Recreation Leader Staff
- The primary duties of this job group are performed in a general office environment

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree or three (3) to five (5) years equivalent experience in Parks & Recreation or related field
- Possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License and a good driving record
- Possess basic CPR/AED certification or able to acquire within 3 months of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation or related field
- Three (3) to five (5) years supervisory experience in Parks & Recreation
- CPRP certified
