Backflow
Backflow is defined as the unwanted reversal of flow in a water distribution system.  All sprinkler systems are required to have a backflow device.  All new irrigation system installations require an approved permit.

Water Conservation Tips
  • Water your lawn only when needed.  If you step on the grass and it springs back when you lift your foot, it does not need watering
  • Water during the cool parts of the day: morning being the best period of the day.  Watering between 11:00AM and 6:00PM is hard on the grass and provides no benefit during the hot months
  • Don't water on windy days because evaporation is much quicker
  • Set your lawn mower one inch higher to reduce evaporation
  • Catch water in a bucket when waiting for warm water to kick in and use for watering flowers, etc
  • Don't let water run while brushing teeth and shaving
  • Don't leave water running while rinsing dishes
  • Shorten your showers by one to two minutes
  • Rain Barrels under downspouts are an excellent way to collect water for flowers, trees, shrubs, etc and can be obtained in decorative styles.  Guidance can be found online
  • Rain gardens are also an excellent option for outside watering
