The City has received many questions about the road construction south of Eagles Parkway on Buckner Tarsney Road. This section of roadway is not in the City Limits of Grain Valley and is maintained by Jackson County.
The project is a scheduled road improvement that is being performed by a Jackson County contractor. The method of roadway improvement being used on this project is called call a chip seal. This is a process where small rock chips are compressed or rolled onto an oil-based product. Most roads in the unincorporated part of the county are chip sealed. The end result looks similar to asphalt but is less expensive to do and allows more roads to be improved.
You can find out more about the planned improvements at Jackson County’s project website. If you have questions about the project, please contact Jackson County Public Works at 816-881-4530.
