YOUTH PROGRAMS

 
TOT TIME
Tot Time provides a fun and interactive environment where moms, dads and grandparents can bring their kids for unstructured play.  The program is held in the community center gymnasium where children can pick from a wide assortment of toys, games and activities in a setting that encourages kids to create, socialize, explore and learn together.
Ages:     0 Years to Pre-K
When:    Starts September 23 and runs through the end of the school year
             Tuesdays & Thursdays
             10:30am - 12:00pm

MINI MUNCHKINS
Join us for some creative play time designed for 2 to 6 year-olds!  Each session will include story time, crafts, a snack and play time, all based on a fun preschool theme.  Mini Munchkins is designed to promote socialization and sharing.  Dress to get messy.  A parent/adult will need to stay with the child and enjoy the fun!  *Pre-registration is required and space is limited!

POPSICLES IN THE PARK

Parents - bring your little ones for family fun time in the park!  We will make new friends, hear a special story, and enjoy free popsicles!  After, feel free to stay and play as long as you would like!

DUCT TAPE CREATIONS
Who says duct tape is only good for fixing things?  Duct tape has now even become fashionable, being made into everything from wallets to purses to prom dresses!  Duct tape is available in a rainbow of colors and a mixture of patterns.  Learn how to create unique items in this hands-on workshop.  Be sure to bring a roll of a patterned/colored duct tape of your choice, and we will provide the silver.

ZUMBA KIDS

Zumba Kids takes the energy, passion and happiness of music and dance and fuses it with exercise programs specifically designed for children ages 4 to 11 years!  Children should wear comfortable clothes and bring water!

SPECIAL EVENTS



UNDERWATER EGG HUNT
Whoever said egg hunting is only fun on Easter?!  Well with GVPR...you will have the chance to refresh your egg hunting skills - IN JULY - IN THE POOL!  We have hidden eggs everywhere - even at the bottom of the deep end!  Prizes will be given and pool admission is included in fee, so make sure to stick around for open swim at 12:00pm!  Don't miss out!  Pre-registration is required by July 15, and spots will fill quickly!!  Parents - make sure to wear flip flops or shoes you don't mind to get wet and bring a bag or bucket for your little hunter's collection!  *Eggs will be sunk & floating all throughout the zero entry to the deep end so that all ages (3 - 12 years) can enjoy the hunt!

Summer movies continue in 2015!  The Armstrong Park Pavilion is the venue to catch some FREE family-friendly flicks.  Bring your blanket or lawn chairs, kids, and friends!  Concession stand will be open.

SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS

The City of Grain Valley recognizes senior citizens as valued residents of our city.  All Grain Valley senior citizens, 65 years of age or older, who live in the city limits, qualify for a free lifetime membership to the Grain Valley Community Center Fitness Facility.  We take great pride in the well being of our senior citizens, and offer many events and activities for our senior population.

Grain Valley resident's 65 years of age and older

FREE lifetime membership to the Community Center Fitness Facility.  Non-residents can receive a discount for a lifetime membership or it is FREE to SilverSneakers members!  The fitness center offers
treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, weight machines and televisions.

PICKLEBALL

Try out the fastest-growing sport around.  Similar to ping pong, badminton, and tennis, Pickleball is a fun, active game that can be mastered by anyone from youth to senior citizens.  It is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches, and uses a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles.  We will demonstrate how to play and teach you the rules!  We have paddles and balls to use and players do not need to have their own partner.  New players will be taught by the Pickleball Supervisor and the court is open to both novice and experienced players!
