Grain Valley Planning & Zoning Commission

 

 

The City of Grain Valley is inviting citizens to apply for an opening on the Planning & Zoning Commission.  This is a vital position in the City that involves decision making related to development in the community.  The commission’s role is to be an advisory entity to the Board of Alderman.  Commissioners are involved with virtually all aspects of the development process which can include but are not limited to the review of plats, rezoning applications and site plans.  All members of the commission will be required to attend regularly scheduled meetings as well as occasional special meetings and workshops which are scheduled as needed.  Regularly scheduled meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month.    Planning & Zoning Commissioners serve a four year term and a minimum of one year residency in Grain Valley is preferred.  Before applying for the position it is recommended that applicant’s email the Commission for an informational packet to gain a better understanding of the responsibilities involved.  Applicants can email the Commission through the City’s website (www.cityofgrainvalley.org) or contact the Public Works Department for more information at 816-847-6220.
